Draft Night 101

A Draft Room gives your league a live board and a pick clock. When the picks are in, AI Draft Grades price every pick against the market, grade every team, and give you a reveal to share. This guide walks through draft night in that order.

Create a room

Draft Rooms are on the Draft Room page. Type a room name (up to 80 characters) and press Create draft room. Open Draft settings first if you want something other than the defaults:

  • Time per pick. 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 or 180 seconds. The default is 60, and you can change it live from the commissioner panel.
  • League size. 8, 10, 12, 14 or 16 teams. The default is 12.
  • Rounds. 1 to 30. The default is 16.

Each room gets two links. The commissioner panel is for whoever runs the draft. The draft board is for the TV or projector. You can have up to 10 rooms.

Watch out: the panel link is made fresh each time you press the button and only works while you are signed in as the room's owner, so there is no panel link to copy and share. The board link is the one to share.
Example

You name a room Sunday Night League, keep the 60 second clock, and set 12 teams and 16 rounds. That is 192 picks. The room appears in your list with two buttons: Open Commissioner Panel and Open Draft Board.

The short version: name a room, pick the clock, team count and rounds, and you get a commissioner panel and a board.

Next: Board and clock →

Board and clock

Before the first pick, bring in your league: the panel can import teams, owners and draft order from a league you have connected, or you can set them up by hand. Current player rankings load on their own, and the pick timer has a voice countdown so nobody has to watch the clock.

  • On the panel, the commissioner sees the team on the clock, the timer, and a ranked, searchable list of the players still available. One click on Draft makes the pick.
  • On the board, picks, snake order and the pick clock update live for everyone watching. The board is view-only.
  • When something goes wrong, the panel can pause the timer and undo the last pick.

When the picks are done, complete the draft from your room list. The result is saved to your account, and the room shows how many picks are in, for example “192 of 192 picks in”. Completing a draft that is not finished saves only the picks that were made, and the empty slots stay empty. A saved room can be reopened from your list.

Watch out: if the draft board can't be reached, the room shows “Status unavailable” instead of a guess. Try again in a moment.
Example

In a 12 team snake draft, team 12 makes pick 12, then picks again at 13, because round two runs in reverse. The board shows who is on the clock and counts down from 60 seconds.

The short version: one person drafts from the panel, everyone else watches the board, and the clock runs for the whole room.

Next: AI Draft Grades →

AI Draft Grades

AI Draft Grades work on a finished draft. Open Draft Grades and choose where the draft comes from:

  • A Draft Room. On a saved room with every pick in, press Draft grades and the draft loads itself.
  • Sleeper. Paste the link or id of a completed Sleeper draft. Your browser reads it from Sleeper's public data, not through your Sleeper account.
  • A pasted ledger. Paste the draft as JSON: teams, then picks with round, team, player and position (QB, RB, WR, TE, K or DST).

Then press the one button to generate. Grades usually take a few minutes, so leave the page open while it works. Each pick is priced against market ADP and LeagueMind's own value board. A pick that falls past its price is a value; one taken ahead of it is a reach. A player the boards can't match is left out of the math and counted, not guessed at.

Every team then gets a letter on a curve across your league, so a league always shows separation: exactly one A+, and no participation trophies. The ladder runs:

  • A+
  • A
  • A-
  • B+
  • B
  • B-
  • C+
  • C
  • C-
  • D+
  • D
  • F

The math sets each team's starting grade. The AI writes the commentary and superlatives and can move a grade by at most one notch. The reveal then shows one team at a time.

Watch out: a grade rates the draft, not the season. Injuries, waivers and trades decide what happens next, and LeagueMind gives leans with probabilities, never certainties.
Example

A player the market ranks 24th is taken at pick 31. He fell +7 spots past his price, which counts as value. A player ranked 40th is taken at pick 29, −11, which counts as a reach. Across all picks, the team with the strongest mix gets the only A+ in the league.

The short version: a grade rates how each pick was priced against the market and LeagueMind's board. It does not predict who wins.

Next: Share the reveal →

Share the reveal

When the grades finish, press Share these grades. The dialog gives you a public link and three ways to use it:

  • Copy the link. Anyone with it sees the whole reveal, read-only, with no sign-in.
  • Email each team its card. There is one email box per team.
  • Let managers claim their own. On the shared page, each team has a “This is my team” form that emails that manager their card.

You can revoke the link from the same dialog. Sharing again afterwards makes a new link, so the old one stays dead.

Watch out: a shared link is open to anyone who has it. Search engines are told not to index it, but only share it where you would share the league name.
Example

You press Share these grades and copy a link that ends in a long random code. You paste it in the league chat. Team 7's manager opens it, sees every team's card without signing in, and enters an email to get their own card sent to them.

The short version: one link shows the whole reveal to anyone, and you can turn it off.

Questions

Do the people watching need a LeagueMind account?

No. The draft board link is view-only and works for people without an account, so you can put it on a TV or send it to the group chat. Creating a room, running picks from the commissioner panel and generating grades need Pro. More →

How many Draft Rooms can I have?

Up to 10. Delete a room you no longer need to make space for another. More →

Where can the draft come from when I grade it?

A Draft Room you finished on LeagueMind, a completed Sleeper draft (paste its link or id), or a ledger you paste in as JSON. Grades run on complete drafts only. More →

Does an A+ mean that team will win the league?

No. The grade compares how each pick was priced with the market's ADP and LeagueMind's own board, curved across your league. It rates the draft, not the season. LeagueMind gives leans with probabilities, never certainties. More →

Does the AI decide the grades?

No. The numbers and the starting grade for each team come from math. The AI writes the commentary and can move a grade by at most one notch. It never produces a number. More →

Who can see a shared reveal, and can I take it back?

Anyone with the link can view it without signing in, and search engines are told not to index it. You can revoke the link from the share dialog; sharing again makes a new link. More →
